Make sure you take a trip into Richmond in North Yorkshire. One of Britain’s most beautiful market towns, with its 11th Century castle, fine historic buildings, museum, riverside walks and a large cobbled marketplace with a good choice of pubs and restaurants to choose. Within walking distance of many of our luxury holiday properties, and if you are staying at Brompton Lakes, wrap up warm, dig out your walking boots and follow the trail through acres of picturesque countryside. Via the impressive ruins of Easby Abbey, walk across Station Bridge with fabulous riverside views to The Station, a stunning Victorian railway building with a café, award-winning bakery and even a cinema.
Treat yourself to an ice cream whilst taking in the tranquil sounds of Richmond Falls, and be sure to visit the 12th Century Richmond Castle, one of the greatest Normal fortresses in Britain. The tiresome climb to the top of the tower is worth it for the breathtaking views across the Yorkshire Dales.
